City of Eau Claire Announces New Economic Development Manager

The City of Eau Claire is pleased to announce, after conducting a nationwide search, that Mr. Aaron J. White has been appointed to the position of Economic Development Manager for the City of Eau Claire. Mr. White has a diverse background and 17 years of proven experience in economic development, business, agribusiness, and operations in Iowa and Kansas. For the past 10 years, Mr. White has worked with in non-profit economic development organizations, with a primary focus of growing local economies and businesses. Mr. White has developed and worked with a number of innovative programs to assist business in the areas of project financing, workforce development, micro-loans and venture capital, housing, business recruitment, and business planning.
Mr. White started his career as a Logistics Coordinator/Grain Merchant with Cargill from 2000 - 2008. From 2008 – 2011, he worked as the Director of Business Retention and Expansion with the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, in Salina, Kansas. Since 2011, Mr. White has served as Executive Director of the Ellis County Coalition for Economic Development in Hays, Kansas where he worked with manufacturing/commercial/retail facilities, as well as the City of Hays, on issues related to new development areas, in-fill development, infrastructure improvements, and workforce training.
City Manager Dale Peters said “I’m very pleased with the results of our recruitment process. Aaron is a competent and dedicated professional, and will serve the community very well as Economic Development Manager.”
Mr. White has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University, a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Psychology from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Aaron and his wife Jani have been married for 20+ years and have two adult daughters (one resides in the Madison area; the other resides in Kansas).
Mr. White will succeed Mike Schatz, who recently retired after 33 years of dedicated service to the City of Eau Claire as Economic Development Manager.
Mr. White will start Monday, December 10, 2018.
