West Bank (Oxford Avenue) Redevelopment District
Staff from the Redevelopment Authority held an
informal meeting in February to discuss the
proposed redevelopment district from Madison
Street, north along Oxford Avenue, on the west
bank of the Chippewa River. About 13 property
owners came to learn about the public timeline
to create a redevelopment district, the
relocation process, and the purpose of creating
the district.
The City Council unanimously passed a
resolution supporting the need for redevelopment
activities in the Oxford Avenue area in the City
of Eau Claire on March 11, 2008. This resolution
also certifies the
boundaries as proposed by the Redevelopment
authority. Following this decision a public
hearing was held on May 7th, gathered input is reflected in the
amended West Bank Redevelopment Plan as approved by the Plan Commission, the City Council and the
Redevelopment Authority.
The Redevelopment District
has therefore been created and the Redevelopment Authority will
now begin to purchase the
designated properties.
